You should make lemonade when life gives you lemons. Or, as Flipflop put it, grin your nicest way over obstacles in life!
The rescue in Georgia, Bosley’s Place, shared Flipflop’s story of tenacity and amazing character. Rejected by his mother at the neonatal stage because of a defect, this little puppy that looked like a Teddy Bear battled his way back to health!
That was followed by the biggest surprise of his life!
Inspired Travels
Flipflop did not begin life with much sweetness. When his mother rejected him, this little furrball, who was just a few days old, was left alone. His front leg abnormality was so severe that he was barely alive and battling for every breath.
The miraculous then happened!
Big-hearted rescuers at Bosley’s Place in Georgia made the decision to step in and improve this little boi’s life.
As soon as he was brought in, Flipflop began to improve. In short order, he took to the bottle and began to gain weight every day.
“Apart from his obvious front left leg deformity, he appears to be very healthy with a great appetite,” the Bosley’s Place team posted on Facebook.
Every day, the kind folks at BP tracked his development. And this rejected boi turned into a healthy and content puppy in a matter of weeks!
At the rescue, he had already begun to socialize with other dogs and make new friends. Flipflop quickly gained notoriety for his incredibly endearing demeanor.
He played and relished every moment of his existence with other doggos as though his past had never happened.
Still, his carers were thinking about one unanswered question. His malformed leg left them unsure of whether to amputate him because of the risk of infection.
And then the solution materialized as Flipflop aged!
This little guy, who also happened to be a full-blooded toy Poodle, was fine without surgery, the vet said.
As he’s not a 60+ pound dog, he’s not dragging it and it’s not at risk of infection, thus he’s getting around just fine and it doesn’t affect him at all. He gets to retain the leg, BP said on Facebook.
Turnabout in a New House
As soon as he was approved for adoption, amazing news reached the rescue! Nikki chose to bring Flipflop home with her family, who have always been the biggest dog enthusiasts.
To watch their little bud at last begin a new chapter in his life made the BP crew very happy. And it was such a comfort to all to know that he was returning home with Nikki!
Not content with that, this genuinely amazing family continued! They accommodated Griff and Henry, two other special needs dogs, in addition to Flipflop (now Butters).
His family is just lovely. In an additional posting, BP said, “They adopted not just Flipflop, now Butters, but also TWO of our other special-needs puppies, Griff and Henry, now Hank.”
With his favorite siblings and hoomans at his new house, Butters is overjoyed right now. After a difficult beginning in life, he is at last where he belongs, which makes every day an exciting new experience!
