He goes by Stu, and no dog should ever be in the state he was discovered in. He is the storyteller here.
Stu was discovered abandoned in a crate in an abandoned home and taken into the care of Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
Not only had someone who was meant to be his family viciously deserted him, but he was also forced to lie in his own filth for an unknown amount of time.
This poor dog battled to survive, severely malnourished and thirsty.
Fighting for living
“We gave him a little meal, took his temperature, gave him fluids, and washed him when he got there. His system was hankering after food and nutrients. In their posting, Stray Rescue of St. Louis said, “That first night was scary – we didn’t know if he would make it.”
He had erratic blood work, so all they could do was pray and hope he would make it through the night.
Possibly his first meal in a very long time, this was his first supper in the shelter:
Stu ultimately turned out to be a fierce combatant with amazing tenacity.
He survived the night and, the next morning, he kissed and waved his tail to his rescuers.
In a remarkable turn, he even stood up and walked to greet everyone, sparking hope that he would be able to recover.
He just needed food, nutrients, and time. Oh, and love, of course.
Going Out of the Building
Though Stu was getting better every day, it would take some time for him to fully recover.
He remained incredibly kind and considerate in spite of everything.Every member of the staff and volunteers, as well as thousands of individuals worldwide, was enthralled with his kind manner.
The rescue personnel quickly found Stu an amazing foster home because to the outpouring of love and support from many individuals.
Stu left the clinic after just a few days to continue his therapy in a house where he can stretch his legs and rest comfortably.
This lovely family has always loved St. Bernards and is excited to assist him in gaining weight. He is still with the family and will keep posting updates as he continues his healing process. He went home with the mother of our front desk manager! The rescue in St. Louis stated that he had return for checkups twice a week.
Stu gained twenty pounds just since moving into the foster family! Though his tummy is still unsettled, he is eating well and doing considerably better.
Even more, he fell in love with tennis balls. He’s probably going to be chomping on his ball when he’s not sleeping or relaxing.
The most current report attests to how much better Stu is doing. Though his energy is increasing, he still has some stomach issues and sleeps a lot.
Such a love bug, he is. He nibbles on you till you pay him more attention if you stop caressing him. He considers himself a lapdog and is being treated like royalty! Stu friend, that’s alright for the time being till you reach a healthy weight. After that, you could smoosh someone,” the rescuer wrote.
